Material-Led Characteristics

Each artwork is handcrafted from polymer clay, a material that naturally responds throughout the making process. While every piece is created with meticulous care, subtle variations in surface, texture and form may emerge. Rather than concealing these characteristics, I choose to preserve them as an honest reflection of my artistic practice. They are part of what makes each artwork unique and are intrinsic to its originality.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every artwork is accompanied with a signed certificate of authenticity.

The Process & Thought Behind Greót II

Greót II, framed contemporary abstract polymer clay artwork with textured black, white and terracotta square cane slices, shown held against a concrete wall in natural light.

Symmetry, Interrupted

My work is created using intricate clay cane techniques in polymer clay, an artform with its roots in Millefiori and Nerikomi. Built through layering, slicing, and repetition, the process allows for remarkable precision and moments of near-perfect symmetry. As the clay is extruded and placed under pressure, patterns that once felt structured and exact begin to distort, shifting into something more organic, unpredictable and chaotic.

Perfection, Imperfected

This transformation mirrors my own contemplative process: where precision gives way to intuition, and perfectionism softens into something more human and accepting. I embrace the imperfection. I now seek it out. I'm constantly exploring methods in which I can further disrupt the clay or surface texture of my work. For me, there's nothing more visually satisfying than the unexpected.

Expertly Framed

Each piece is professionally framed using FSC-certified wood moulding, chosen to complement the subtle, natural tones of my work. I prefer to use open tray frames, allowing the honed texture of the artwork to remain visible and appreciated rather than concealed behind glass. All works arrive ready to hang, complete with D-rings and hanging string installed.

Visual artist Anna Mills stands behind her framed artwork, Drȳge, holding it in front of her so that only her hands and the top of her hair are visible. The artwork combines a warm rust-coloured upper section with geometric black-and-white patterned bands below, set against a weathered Corten steel architectural backdrop that complements its earthy palette.
